https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=400772 Summary: Ghostbusters needed -- data corruption, keyboard problems on 16-way Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: pavel@novell.com ReportedBy: pavel@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: pmladek@novell.com, jbohac@novell.com, jkosina@novell.com Found By: --- The machine seems to corrupt data every few days (ext3 error, dir index corrupted). But... the problems are pretty hilarious. While trying to recover from one such event (we learned to just mkfs on those; it is faster than fsck), I did actually create e2image for debugging, and was running fsck... and then we realized that only every third keystroke is accepted. Very repeatably. We suspected KVM, but it was getting lost even on plain old ps/2 keyboard. Interrupts were not getting lost, as watch cat /proc/interrupts proved, and cursor blinking showed: each time key was pressed cursor showed up, but only sometimes letters did show up. Then we thought we lost the machine -- leds kept reacting and cursor kept reacting, but that was it, and sshd was not up. So I said "okay, one last test", and pulled SATA disks out. Nothing happened for a few seconds, but then driver started complaining about missing disks, and keyboard started to work... strange, how can sata_svw driver cause something like this? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
