https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=400140 Summary: knetworkmanager does not report correct strength in systray Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: pablo@blueoakdb.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Hi, Knetworkmanaager inconsistently reports signal strength in the systray. My AP is about 10F/3M away. Using `iwconfig' it reports a link quality of 90/100 yet in my systray, I only see two bars. If I reconnect to the AP via knetworkmanager, I get all three to four full bars. If I force Knetworkmanager to reconnect to the AP (right-click on the systray icon and select the network), the correct signal strength is displayed in the systray. Reproducing the problem ======================= o Disconnect from the AP - confirm no settings via `route -n' o Connect to the AP via Knetworkmanager o Note signal strength o Reconnect to the AP via Knetworkmanager - rt-click and select the AP currently connected o Correct signal strength reported iwconfig output =============== # iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"Sanchez Compound" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:02:6F:06:34:67 Bit Rate=11 Mb/s Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:90/100 Signal level:-38 dBm Noise level:-96 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
