https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=399203 Summary: UMTS in KDE4 not really usable Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: ASSIGNED Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: wstephenson@suse.de ReportedBy: michl@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: hschaa@novell.com Found By: --- In KDE4 UMTS is not usable unless you have Seife, Coolo or similar helping you. Here my experience: User insert the UMTS card, opens knetworkmanager, expects noz0 gets him connected but this is not clickable. I learned that I need to go to "New Connection" where I normally expect to add a new network. This most of the time ends in no dialog nor connection. Sometimes I managed to open the "Connections" dialog which might be okay and useful for technical savvy people but is not for the standard users it not understandable at all and nowbody knows that most of the fields don't need any content. So the standard dialog should just be asking for the PIN and the savvy dialog should somehow be accessible for savvy people. Then I learned to install NetworkManager-gnome to make it worked which finally worked out. So in general, yes we have the functionality but it's not yet usable for a non-savvy users. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
