My screens also resize if the font change from 8x16 to 8x8alt that is
doubling the lines and yes this is exactly what I want.
I'm only interested in values that stty reports *during* boot on /dev/console
before starting blogd. This because I'm suprised to see 24 lines in your
inital report known from xterms used for a serial line whereas the standard
is 25 lines for the 8x16 font. This may only happen is LINES is unset and
stty fails to report the terminal size (compare with /etc/rc.status).
For a test you may also replace in /etc/rc.status the lines
if test -z "$LINES" -o -z "$COLUMNS" ; then
eval `exec 3<&1; stty size <&3 2>/dev/null | (read L C; \
echo LINES=${L:-24} COLUMNS=${C:-80})`
fi
test $LINES -eq 0 && LINES=24
test $COLUMNS -eq 0 && COLUMNS=80
export LINES COLUMNS
with
function rc_lc () {
if test -n "$REDIRECT" ; then
set -- $(stty size < "$REDIRECT")
else
set -- $(stty size)
fi
LINES=$1
COLUMNS=$2
test $LINES -eq 0 && LINES=24
test $COLUMNS -eq 0 && COLUMNS=80
export LINES COLUMNS
}
rc_lc
to see if this makes a difference during boot. Beside this it may
help to execute this function before the lines
stty $otty
of both /etc/init.d/rc and /etc/init.d/boot
