--- Comment #54 from stefan van ruiten 2008-06-06 10:05:12 MDT ---
well I just crashed my vista again.
it is vista ultimate x64 installed from oem dvd that came with my dell m65.
Then I installed opensuse RC1 x64 from DVD and selected all defaults apart from
the diskpartitioning. I have it as follows:
mbr: grub
sda1 windows vista ntfs 40 gb
sda2 linux swap 2gb
sda3 linux / 38gb
installing linux made vista hang when trying to load winload.exe so the grub
entry was correct. activating it in fdisk and booting the dvd to repair fixed
it for me. before rebooting the first time to windows and trying to mount the
ntfs partition manually i received the following on screen error:
stefan@sandra:~> sudo mount -a
$LogFile indicates unclean shutdown (0, 0)
Failed to mount '/dev/sda1': Operation not supported
Mount is denied because NTFS is marked to be in use. Choose one action:
Choice 1: If you have Windows then disconnect the external devices by
clicking on the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in the Windows
taskbar then shutdown Windows cleanly.
Choice 2: If you don't have Windows then you can use the 'force' option for
your own responsibility. For example type on the command line:
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /windows/ -o force
Or add the option to the relevant row in the /etc/fstab file:
/dev/sda1 /windows/ ntfs-3g force 0 0
stefan@sandra:~> Failed to mount '/dev/sda1': Operation not supported
bash: Failed: command not found
