Hi Takashi
I have identified a pattern:
- When I boot my laptop in Windows, and then restart and boot openSUSE, there
is no popping at all.
- When I boot openSUSE having previously been in openSUSE, I get popping. And
strangely enough, this happens with all types of kernels: pae, default or even
vanilla!
This strange behaviour reminds me of the "no sound after Windows" issue
reported by many users of HP DV2000 in this forum:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=455147&page=8
The difference is that, in their case, booting Windows created the problem. In
my case, it creates a temporary fix for the problem...
The following command returns 0 when on AC, and 10 when on battery:
# cat /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/power_save
But changing the value of this, doesn't eliminate the popping.
And, BTW, who is daemon responsible for changing this value? I have stopped
powersaved, but still this values get updated whenever I connect/disconnect the
battery!...
Note that I don't get this behaviour in Fedora 9: I can reboot Fedora 9
repeatedly, I get no popping noise.
