https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=396191 Summary: Failed NTP Time Changes Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ahowarth@iinet.net.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer I decided I did not want my hardware clock set to UTC so I unticked the checkbox in the yast control center under yast2 clock and timezone window. As my user selected location is still correct I selected accept. Noticing the system time was now wrong I performed menu / applications / configure desktop, then selected date & time. Observing that my location was still selected, I flicked between my location, another, back to my location in the hopes of getting ntp to update the time. Bug 1: The subsequent root confirmation window has a usability bug where the command that needs root is not visible and gets presented garbled given the length of the command and the available window space for it. User now authorises root and the second main bug occurs: Bug 2: System time is not updated and the user is presented with an error window saying "Unable to contact time server: ." which reads to me there is some sort of error in the syntax as I thought it would take longer to update ntp than what it did. I suspect it is not doing ntp but failing before. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
