Your comment 3 does not conflict with the comment 2 or the original report.
Nothing against that. What I request is only, that you do as you do only in
case the name of the entries also matches your naming scheme. This means you
should leave hand-written names as they are. This was one of the major problems
of yast and is now mostly gone. Don't introduce it at other places again.
And the automatic kernel naming is easy to distinguish from hand modifications.
In Perl e.g it would be:
if($oldname =~ / +- +2\.\d+\.[0-9.-]+$)
{ $name = $newname;}
else
{ $name = $oldname;}
Is that so complicated? If you find this does not work fine with multiple
kernels, fine then enforce the naming scheme for multiple kernels, but for
single kernels allow user defined names.
Making a bug for nearly every user only to easier support a feature for a very
small number of users is very bad style.
And when I look at /sbin/update-bootloader I don't find anything, which
prohibits to fix that bug.
