https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=386464 Summary: Support Canon iP, MP and MX series (PPD files and support) Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@novell.com ReportedBy: frankebay99@gmail.com QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer Canon Japan have made some basic RPM packages, as well as the Australian site. To work, the MX series need to use the rare MP series drivers available (not all the MPs exist), which do not allow all the functionalities and sometimes do not work at all. Canon Network Printing functionality is probably impossible for developers to make it work. I challenge anyone on that. Canon uses a proprietary communication protocol (CNBJNP) and they do not provide the functionality for Linux. There exist a MAC OSX driver, maybe someone could use it to build something under openSUSE. But the existing RPM packages provided by Canon would help, as long as ALL the printers could have its own package! This is what I would like. At least, please allow all of the iP, MP and MX series to have all the printing functions (but network). tnx -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
