https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=379813 Summary: "zypper dup" says it re-installs and removes the perl package Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gp@novell.com QAContact: dmacvicar@novell.com Found By: Product Management Seen updating the internal CONSISTENT tree (which is basically FACTORY by another name). I found the output of "zypper dup" pretty confusing since it indicates the same package for re-installation as well as removal, and looking at the actual activity log, it only says "Downloading" and "Installing": tomonaga:/tmp # zypper dup Reading installed packages... The following package is going to be re-installed: perl The following package is going to be REMOVED: perl Overall download size: 6.0 M. After the operation, 39.7 M will be freed. Continue? [YES/no]: yes Downloading package perl-5.10.0-28.x86_64, 6.0 M (39.7 M unpacked) * Downloading: perl.rpm [done] * Installing: perl-5.10.0-28 http://w3.suse.de/~gp/zypper-dup/ has the output of "zypper dup --debug-solver". I tried to look for earlier reports of this to avoid a duplicate, but my Bugzilla search foo failed upon me. This may be a misunderstanding on my side, but re-installation (which is also described by "man zypper") would be sufficient in such a case as far as the user interface goes. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
