It appears that the version of netcat shipped in openSUSE has not been updated since 1996.
Yes, the soure tarball of our netcat package still dates from 1996 but we've added a bunch of improvements and bug fixes over the years, so you can't say it hasn't been updated since. It looks like the original author abandoned the project after releasing version 1.10 in 1996 without handing over responsibility to someone else. This seems to be the reason why there are several forks and rewrites out there today, which share the same basic feature set, but got extended in different ways.
We ought to switch to the OpenBSD version.
We can only do this, if we make sure that the OpenBSD version behaves exactly the same as our current version when being used as a drop-in replacement. Otherwise we might break existing scripts while trying to fix virt-manager. We can definitely not make this change for 10.3, as version updates and even ore switching to a different implementation are not allowed in released products. So I change this to be an enhancement request for 11.0. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
