Seems when previously booting with the Xen kernel and 'init 3' option it still
booted me into runlevel 5 (R5 is also mentioned in the attached logs) I'll give
the boot option another try to see if I mistyped or if there is an issue there
too.
As you asked I've deleted the /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcgf-wlan0 and also
edited the /etc/inttab to default to runlevel 3.
The system now boots ok taking me to the console.
Re-configuring the wlan0 and rebooting still boots to the console, so no
problem there. As a side effect my wireless is now working :)
Logging in as root and launching X using startx has the same hang as result.
So it does seem to have to do with the X environment.
Might be significant : I'm using GNOME as DE.
What to do?
