i`m sorry, but after updating to latest factory and heavily using the system
today, the issue re-appeared.
i`m getting the impression that this isn`t an Xorg issue but has something todo
with kde or window manager.
freeze happened again, but after hammering on the keyboard a little bit, trying
ctrl-alt-backspace and that stuff to no avail, something weird happened: i
left that box for a moment to login remotely via ssh fromm another system and i
got aware, that in the meantime the desktop went completely crazy.
i had only konqueror open and some console windows and those console windows
gone insane by automatically switching between them - as if somebody would
switch them via alt tab. have a little videoclip (cellphone) i can share on
request.
strace of the Xorg process looked different now and after hammering the
keyboard a little bit more, the magic action suddenly stopped. i could type
into the console windows again, but some keys/chars like |, tab-completion etc)
didn`t work anymore. i could not type into konqueror location field anymore and
restart of konqueror didn`t fix that, too - all in all mouse was fine but
keyboard and window behaviour was somewhat "screwed up".
ok - killed X-session and restarted and all is fine again.
maybe there is some valuable information in the strace - found nothing inside
the system logs.
furthermore: when the desktop was in that crazy state, i could "chvt 1" to
text-console from remote ssh session and "chvt 7" back to gui, where "chvt 1"
needed much more time to complete.
