Some interesting new behaviors on this problem.
For the last 2 weeks or so, I have had a red "mandatory updates available"
showing in my GNOME tray updater icon. It always failed as I reported
previously.
On Sunday, perhaps a day earlier, the icon turned green. When clicked, it would
say there are no updates available. BUT, if I ran YaST2 manually and clicked
"Online Updates" it WOULD find a bunch of updates available, and then it would
fail as I reported previously.
Today (Monday January 7) the icon has turned red again. Click it, select
details, and again it fails as I reported previously. Today it says:
Can't satisfy requirement /usr/bin/gpg for MozillaThunderbird-2.0.0.9-8.2.i586
o delete MozillaThunderbird
o Ignore this requirement just here
o Generally ignore this requirement
Can't satisfy requirement libldap-2.3.so.0 for OpenOffice_org-2.3.1.2-1.1.i586
o delete OpenOffice_org
o Ignore this requirement just here
o Generally ignore this requirement
Can't satisfy requirement /usr/lib/gpg for seamonkey-1.1.7-3.4.i586
o delete seamonkey
o ignore this requirement just here
o generally ignore this requirement
I use Seamonkey. I critically depend on Thunderbird. WtF is broken about
/usr/lib/gpg? "rpm -qf /usr/bin/gpg" says it belongs to the package gpg2, so I
tried to update it to the newest available from Factory, which is 2.0.5. Trying
to update that package alone produces the same error report as that just above;
can't satisfy requirement /usr/bin/gpg for seamonkey-1.1.7-3.4.i586 and
Mozillathunderbird-2.0.0.9-8.2.i586, and can't satisfy requirement for
libldap-2.3.so.0 for OpenOffice_org-2.3.1.2-1.1.i586. There are 2 things
strange about that:
1. Why doesn't the gpg2 2.0.5 package supply /usr/bin/gpg?
2. WtF does libldap and OpenOffice have to do with an attempt to upgrade only
gpg2?
