Can you please verify how it was run in earlier versions? I thought it was always run manually...
I've made further efforts to verify my statements, so I installed SL-10.1 several times onto a fully virtualized xen machine, which was REALLY blood and tears for me, but I didn't succeed. All I can say that as far as I cn remember, in some older SuSE versions, just installing the fetchmsttfonts.sh patch was enough to have th fonts on the system. But what if I'm wrong. End users DON'T BENEFIT from having the script but not the fonts.
Does "during first update" mean the update while installation?
Yes. I noticed that a libzypp update came out in order to cure this problem, so I installed a paravirtualized openSUSE 10.3 onto my laptop. At the point of the update while installation I checked the fetchmsttfonts.sh patch, but YaST didn't give any feedback about it. I was also unable to find the fonts in /usr/share/fonts/truetype. So I installed the openSUSE 10.3 system and updated it. My intention was to install the MS truetype fonts during this initial update process, but virtually nothing happened, as I mentioned earlier. After the installation and update I tried to remove and reinstall the fetchmsttfonts.sh patch but it didn't bring the fonts into the /usr/share/fonts/truetype directory. Why do I have to run the script manually in order to get the fonts? IS IT A FEATURE OR A BUG?
