Thanks,
I understand the options and presently I am running the software raid, but
I would really like to use the hardware raid for performance purposes, etc..
This is definitely a Yast/sata_promise bug because I have just done the exact
same 10.3 install on a Gigabyte board with a nVidia onboard raid chip and Yast
properly competed the install and the other system is running great with
hardware raid. The install went exactly the same, but unlike this case with the
promise chip, the installer was able to boot the system after the software
install. Here as specified above, the initial install "sees and partitions" the
hardware raid, but then is unable to boot to it. Here is the requested
information:
ripper:/home/david # grep -v '#' /etc/sysconfig/kernel
INITRD_MODULES="processor thermal pata_amd sata_promise fan jbd ext3 raid1 edd"
DOMU_INITRD_MODULES="xennet xenblk"
MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT=""
ACPI_DSDT=""
SCHED_MINTIMESLICE=""
SCHED_MAXTIMESLICE=""
SKIP_RUNNING_KERNEL=""
hwinfo is provided as an attachment as hwinfo.tar.gz
