Hello,
this is caused by:
* Sat Dec 9 13:00:00 2006 - olh@suse.de
- build ramdisk driver as module, it was only required for
loop mounted initrds, but its not needed for cpio initrd
Is this mean that everybody who use OpenSuSE default kernel is forced to use
cpio initrds.
Sure... a kernel rebuild is an option. But then we loose the whole concept of
using rpm packages from a distribution.
Have anybody at SuSE thought about, that there might be other users who might
need this feature in the kernel? Obviously not.
Seems you need to be officially informed that there are serious companies that
use your distribution for a bit more than to run a desktop PC on.
Backwards compatibility does not harm anybody, but loosing it - costs a lot of
development for every company that base their products on a such distribution.
I guess, it is not just me who would appreciate if you could restore your
backwards compatibility with earlier kernels - and if you would take serious
consideration before you remove any feature in the future.
Thank you in advance.
