grep is using it's own regexp matches to decide for matches. I guess it's then
using glibc regexp for determining which parts of the matched line
to color. I'm not sure about the latter. Ergo that grep matches the line
at all is no indication of glibc behaving correctly. That it doesn't color
correctly would hint at a confusion in glibc's regexp module, like described
in my comment (of course only if grep uses the glibc regexp machinery
correctly, which needs to be determined to decide if this here is now a glibc
bug or not).
