https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=343974 Summary: frozen-bubble LAN-game not working due firewall block Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Security AssignedTo: security-team@suse.de ReportedBy: jonas@jonasbjork.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- The game Frozen-Bubble is in default-pattern for GNOME (no package selection under installation, only choosing GNOME as desktop environment). Installation also installs SuSEfirewall2 per default. Problem is: When choosing LAN-game in Frozen-Bubble you are not able to see Frozen-Bubble servers in your LAN. Solution: Disable firewall: rcSuSEfirewall2 stop After disabling the firewall LAN-game works fine. My thoughts on this issue is that SUSE should be aware of that some applications (mostly games) need network-access. A nice solution for this would be a dialog popping up: "You need to open your firewall to play this game in LAN, do you want that?" That makes it easy for the user to open firewall by him self. Another possible solution is that the firewall opens up ports needed by games (at least those who is installed by default). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
