--- Comment #13 from Francisco A. Cruz Casado 2007-11-25 13:46:50 MST ---
Summary: mkinitrd fails to create a proper initrd for an encrypted root
kernel: 2.6.22.12-0.1-bigsmp
mkinitrd: mkinitrd-2.1-36.2
After following the procedure described in
http://en.opensuse.org/Encrypted_Root_File_System_with_SUSE_HOWTO
Using the system mkinitrd, not the modified mkinitrd mentioned in the article,
the new initrd fails to load the system.
I think the problem is that mkinitrd doesn't make a proper initrd. The initrd
loads OK **but doesn't pause to read the LUKS passphrase**.
The text "Enter LUKS passphrase" appears on the screen, but the system
continues to check the USB subsystem , and stalls there, so the user doesn't
have the option to enter the passphrase. Next I copy the text that appears
during boot.
-------------------------
Enter LUKS passphrase: usb 2-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd ...
(more messages regarding usb)
-------------------------
and the boot proccess stalls.
