https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=343884 Summary: White Screen of Death after Novell validated _1-Click_ XGL update/patch Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Xgl AssignedTo: dreveman@novell.com ReportedBy: bmiller@coastside.net QAContact: bperry@novell.com Found By: Development Hi, folks... I have a dual-core ASUS C90 with MMX video card. Loaded OS10.2 about 3mos. ago. No Intel 4965 wireless support. 2 weeks ago, updated with OS10.3 GR. Voila! wireless! Found xgl support for OS, GLX, NVIDIA yesterday via _one-click_. NOT! As soon as o_c finished, desktop worked fine in KDE plain UID for about 5 min.s. Then screen locked, reboot, login plain UID, KDE, WSOD. Reboot, login root, KDE, screen locked after 5 min.s. Reboot, login root, KDE, WSOD. Reboot, login plain UID, Gnome, screen locked after 5 min.s. Reboot, login plain UID, Gnome, WSOD. Reboot, login root, Gnome, WSOD. Now, no matter which Windows manager I select, I get WSOD. I can get a Konsole from the usual Alt-F-? keys. But there appear to be som many files that have changed, I don't even know where to start. Forums/blogs show at least 6 other folks that seem to be having the same problem. There also seems to be a round robin pointing match as to whether it's GLX/XGL, Compiz, NVIDIA, XOrg, SuSE. I don't care whose issue it is. I'd suggest it might be a little bit of all 5 or six players. What specifically do I need to do, what files need to change to get my functional OS10.3 system back. With or without the eye candy. I'm within a day or two of jumping distro's to one that's more stable for my desktop/laptop. This is the primary reason linux is taking it on the nose for a desktop O/S! Rant over. Help! Thanks!
