https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=343605 Summary: erroneus home directory expansion under windows domain authentication and winbind/kerberos Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: diego.ercolani@yacme.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other When a Opensuse10.3 system is set to authenticate itself under windwos domain controller after joining domain, (my case is windows 2000), with automatic creation of user directory, the default setting is that when a user firstly log-in is created a directory under /home with the name of the netbios workgroup (DOMAIN) and under this directory is created the real home-directory using the username of the account user (name.surname). So the home directory of name.surname under the domainname DOMAIN would be: /home/DOMAIN/name.surname/ Under bash, when a user writes: cd ~username, normally the ~username is expanded as the homedir of the user: e.g. cd ~/root <-> cd /root/ so is expectable that when you write (using escape char '\') cd ~DOMAIN\\name.surname the command would be expanded as cd /home/DOMAIN/name.surname instead shell respond with error: -bash: cd: ~DOMAIN\name.surname: No such file or directory -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
