Hi Kay.
First, snd-hda-intel is not blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist. Second,
it was certainly not I who blacklisted snd-hda-intel in blacklist.rpmsave. Both
files /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.{rpmsave,with_ipv6} have last been modified in
Nov 2006, and openSUSE 10.2 had never attempted to blacklist snd-hda-intel
despite these files being there. Why would it - /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist did
not mention snd-hda-intel. However, after the upgrade to openSUSE 10.3,
snd-hda-intel suddenly became blacklisted ...
Anyhow, deleting /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.{rpmsave,with_ipv6} and rebooting
fixes the problem.
Perhaps the script parsing the blacklist file accidentally parses all
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist* files instead of just /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist?
Thanks for all the help with this issue.
