Well I am finally up and running on suse10.3. That bug report gave me what I
needed to do the install. The pata_nv driver was being loaded, and it wasn't
recognizing my DVD drive. I didn't have any success using the hwprobe=-amd74xx
method, but I may have been using it wrong. I used brokenmodules=pata_nv,amd74xx
or something similar after the 1st failure to load the DVD. I then used the
menu to load the modules that I wanted. When one of them was loaded another
window popped up to show me how to view the output. I could see that my ide DVD
and disks were recognized now. I was then able to check the integrity of my
suse10.3 DVD. Modules that I found were loaded now are ide_generic,
datanv,generic,libata, ide_disk, ide_cd, cdrom and ide_core.
