Re "power off": I mean a switch which really cuts the power line cut physically
- that uses no power at all, which is a good thing.
"PreserveJobFiles": I agree that it's not practical to keep successful jobs,
and has privacy implications.
The real problem here is not whether to delete the jobs or keep them. It is to
resume the printer automatically when the physical problem is solved. In
theory: There is a temporary problem, and CUPS makes permanent changes based on
that (disables printer), so that when the temporary problem is resolved, CUPS
still does not work and needs special action to fix CUPS as well (manual
enabling of printer). The result is: 'Power printer on, click print button' has
a different result than 'click print button, power printer on'. The latter
needs a root password and admin console. (Same with other problems like USB
cable, paper on some printers etc.) That's what completely unlogical,
unrealistic and must be fixed.
