Hallo, sorry that it took a little longer...
Booting also fails when using the failsafe settings (runlevel 1, maxcpus=0/1,
acpi=off etc) so that does not help.
Interestingly enough there are *no segfault messages* when booting into single
user mode... One does not get a command line and can not log into the system
since it seems to be waiting for something. I very much suspect the
"Checking/updating CPU microcode" step!
Using safe settings and booting into runlevel 3 and thus activating networking
brings loads of segfaults etc. in addition to the above.
In both cases it is usually possible to safely reboot with Ctrl+Alt+Esc.
I will attach the boot.log and messages, hopefully you can extract something.
Logging seems to work OK so if anything more is missing please feel free to
