(In reply to comment #0 from Michal Veselenyi) I guess this is because yast currently (for 10.3 release) configures all HPLIP capable printers using the plain usb/lp connectivity, not hplip. So only printing will work (and hplip is thus unecessary).
Well the problem is I didn't get any printing on my HP with that configuration. It seems some (maybe most) HP devices work only with hplip, not mentioning all-in-one devices with scanner which surely require hplip. So I consider mandatory installing hplip upon firts printer detection/configuration with yast for any printer/scanner from HP. .
That makes this bug depend on bug #309933 and bug #184798
Yes and no. The first one is some problems with parallel port if I understand. The second one won't apply if hplip is installed upon printer config.
