Software environments were I was UNABLE to duplicate the issue reported
I am not able to reproduce the issue in my environment. I've attached a list of
the installed client and server software that I tested against. My tests
consisted of opening existing files (.doc, .ppt and xls) over gnome-vfs
(smb://) samba shares in nautilus and konqueror. Then I would make
modifications and save them in OOo. In all cases I was able to successfully
save the documents.
Tony, Could you provide the following information to help narrow down your
issue?
What OOo packages are you testing against (rpm -qa|grep -i openoffice | sort)
When you mention CIFS shortcut, how exactly are you connecting to your samba
resource? Is it via mount -t cifs, gnome-vfs, konqueror or some other method?
To verify that this is an OOo issue, are you able to access and modify and save
text documents on your CIFS share using applications like gedit?
