--- Comment #11 from Jan Bekker 2007-10-23 17:16:58 MST ---
My starting point:
OpenSUSE 10.2 runs okay; hardware AMD 939 3800;
ISO DVD used: openSUSE-10.3-GM-DVD.X86_64.ISO.
First error msg during boot: Could not find openSUSE Repository
Then later in the process: No repository found
If I try the menu Verify Installation CD-ROM/DVD
then I get error msg: Error reading sector 2 this DVD is broken.
Based upon other bugzilla reports I changed the DVD drive from Secondary Slave
to Secondary Master; no improvement.
When I check the boot menu:
MainMenu --> System Information --> Hard Disk or CDROMs
I do now see a mixup of drive letters:
10:3 /dev/sda (disk, dev 8:0-8:15)
Model Maxtor 6Y060L0
Driver "pata_amd"
But under 10.2:
this is /dev/hda
driver: AMD_IDE
10.3: /dev/sr0 (cdrom, dev 11:0)
Model "Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A"
Driver "pata_amd"
(my DVD boot device !! not a SATA but an IDE device)
But under 10.2:
/dev/hdc
Driver AMD_IDE
10.3: /dev/sr1 (cdrom, dev 11:1)
Model "Lite-om LTR-161028"
Driver "pata_amd"
But under 10.2:
/dev/hdd
Driver AMD_IDE
10.3 /dev/sdb (disk, dev 8:16-8:31)
Model " WDC WD2500JS-008"
Driver "sata_nv"
Under 10.2:
/dev/sda
driver: sata_nv
10.3: /dev/sdc (disk, dev 8:32-8:47)
Model "ST332083 0AS"
Driver "usb-storage"
Under 10.2:
/dev/sdb
Driver usb-storage
Looks like the IDE devices are not seen as IDE but as Sata?
