When using the RPMs the NVIDIA libGL is located in /usr/X11R6/%lib and should
be preferred. Unfortunately quake3 uses dlopen to load libGL (which prefers the
one in /usr/%lib) and this is the Mesa software rendering library.
This issue does not happen when using the NVIDIA installer, since this replaces
the libGL in /usr/%lib with the NVIDIA one.
IIRC there was an option to the quake executable to specify the path for libGL.
