https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=333681 Summary: performance problem with openSUSE 10.3 (native_cpuid ?) Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bg@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- After I installed openSUSE 10.3, I noticed that some programs run slower than they used to in openSUSE 10.2. This is obvious in quake3, where I normally had limited the framerate to 125 fps (frames per second) which were always reached (in all situations, regardless of the complexity of the map). In openSUSE 10.3, I sometimes get only 65-70 fps. This is still enough to run this game, but is quite a regression to 10.2. I did some basic tests, and maybe, the native_cpuid call is used too often/takes too much time. I'll attach hwinfo output and the example of a readprofile output to this bug. The readprofile was resetted before one round of quake3, and read after this one round. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
