https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331642 Summary: Does not start at first start during installation. Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: PC OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sven.bengtsson@gotanet.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer I have 2 IDE-discs. At the first disc, hda1, I have open Suse 10.2 installed, and I want to keep it there. At the second disc, sdb1 (former called hdb1) I try to install open Suse 10.3. Installation runs without problems until first reboot. It says: "Booting from local disc, Grub loading stage 1.5, Grub loading, please wait". Then it does not come any longer. The boot-loader for 10.2 also got damaged. If I start the system with the 10.3 installation DVD and aaccept the systems suggestion of repairing boot-loader, I can get the 10.3 system to start. The 10.2 system was changed to "chain-load" by the automatic repairing, but is not able start anyway. I think the system was saying something like "kernel modules not loaded" when I tried to start 10.2. I did not write down the exact words, I'm sorry. The problem has to do with the new naming of hard-discs in conjunction with IDE-discs I suppose. Now I have put the 10.2 DVD in, and let it repair the boot-loader from 10.2 point of view, so I can start 10.2 again. The 10.3 is now unreachable, and I will let it be so until I know what to to.
