I think that the reporter was simply wondering why the temperature reported in
MyComputer and the temperature reported by sensors were different.
The temperature reported in MyComputer comes from ACPI. This is the same value
returned by "apci -t" or read directly from
/proc/acpi/thermal_zone/*/temperature.
The original source of this value is completely system-dependent, so I can't
tell where it does come from in you case.
The temperature reported by sensors, in your case, comes from the k8temp kernel
driver, which reads the temperature value in digital form directly from your
AMD K8 CPU.
The temperature in your computer case is not uniform. Even the temperature of
your CPU is not uniform, it varies heavily depending on the exact location in
the CPU core. So it's not all that surprising that different thermal sensors in
your system report different temperature values. On top of that, each sensor
has a limited accuracy, and this can add to the difference.
