https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=327838 Summary: rt61pci driver loads wrong firmware Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: peter.missel@onlinehome.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer rt61pci driver for RaLink 2561T, 2561ST, 2661T wireless LAN PCI devices, as supplied in the rt2x00-kmp package of openSuSE 10.3. The driver uploads vendor firmware binaries into the device. Due to a mixup in PCI ID numbers for the 2561T and 2561ST, it uploads the wrong firmware file, which renders the device inoperable altogether. I have communicated the bug to the driver's maintainer, and a fix has been implemented already. Please update the rt2x00-kmp package to include this fix, so that the devices are initialized correctly to begin with. Meanwhile, as a "two wrongs make a right" workaround, users can swap /lib/firmware/2561.bin and /lib/firmware/2561s.bin, so that the wrong file contains the right firmware for their card. (The cards I used were MSI PC54G3 and PC60G, the latter using the 2561ST "turbo" chip.) regards, Peter -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
