If it is an upgrade issue, then calling gconftool-rebuild and restarting gconf
daemon should fix it (it rebuilds everything from scratch).
What reports
gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/motion_acceleration
before and after gconftool-rebuild?
I cannot reproduce on freshly installed system nor upgraded system, so I guess
that there was a strange value in reporter's home directory gconf database.
Is it an upgrade or fresh installation?
Was your home directory used in other GNOME/SuSE versions? Is it reproducible
for a new user?
Could you verify, that the value does not have "mandatory" value? (e. g. in
gconf-editor)
Guessing from critical messages, reporters' gconf database contains value,
which cannot be interpreted as float and the code is not error-proof and
behaves incorrectly.
