https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=327587#c1 Summary: modprobe freeze on snd-powermac loading. Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: PowerPC OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: iakynet@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Hello. I have a problem in loading the 'snd-powermac' kernel module with the 'modprobe' command. Every time I try to load the module (and only this module) with this command it freezes and start to consume system resources, which turn the system more and more slow, before it is stopped with a CTRL+C. The 'top' command shows many instances of 'modprobe' running, and i don't know if this is normal... However, the 'snd-powermac' module can be loaded successfully with the 'insmod' command. After the failed modprobe execution there is, AFAIK, no trace in any system log. This is my computer: ignacio@serenity:~> cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 cpu : 7455, altivec supported clock : 867.000000MHz revision : 0.2 (pvr 8001 0302) bogomips : 86.51 timebase : 33331438 platform : PowerMac machine : PowerBook3,5 motherboard : PowerBook3,5 MacRISC2 MacRISC Power Macintosh detected as : 80 (PowerBook Titanium IV) pmac flags : 0000001b L2 cache : 256K unified pmac-generation : NewWorld ignacio@serenity:~> uname -a Linux serenity 2.6.22.5-23-default #1 2007/09/18 05:23:45 UTC ppc ppc ppc GNU/Linux The problem can be reproduced any time I try to load the 'snd-powermac' module with the 'modprobe' command. I'm sorry for the few data provided but, as I previously said, I don't see any relevant log. Feel free for ask for any information I can provide to help to solve the problem.
