--- Comment #26 from Felix Miata 2007-09-21 07:31:06 MST ---
Migration has more than one meaning for libata context. Two of them:
1-Upgrade previous SUSE version that used legacy drivers for disks with >15
partitions
2-Upgrade hardware from old system with PATA controllers to new system with
SATA controllers, done by cloning disk with >15 partitions in PATA system to
new SATA disk, and attempting to use the SATA clone in the new system
I did #2 30 months ago, and still cannot boot my SUSE 9.2 that lives on SATA
partition #16, or install/upgrade some newer SUSE version to replace the no
longer supported 9.2 on #16. According to current bug summary "Support more
than 15 partitions on libata ", and status, this should be possible now in
factory mirrors, or in 10.3RC2.
