--- Comment #10 from Neil Brown 2007-09-13 03:51:22 MST ---
The array detected by "mdadm --examine" use version-1 metadata which does not
support in-kernel autodetect (by design).
What I think YaST should do is:
1/ run "mdadm --examine --scan -cpartitions" to collect a list of possible
arrays.
2/ present this list to the user so they can choose which ones to assemble
3/ When the user selects one, assemble it (with the line to a file and use
mdadm --assemble --scan -c/the/file/name)
and then add the device to the list of devices available for filesystems
or whatever
Would that be possible?
You could just automatically assemble everything with
mdadm --assemble --scan --homehost=HOSTNAME --auto-update-homehost
but I would that be an option, imposed.
(I think it would have been better to use NEEDINFO in this that rather than
reassigning... but no matter).
