https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=307178 Summary: kdump: dumping over NFS does not work if locking is needed Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jdluhos@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- When kdump is configured to save a dump over the NFS, it can fail when it attempts to use locking. NFS locking is unavailable in that time because the rpc daemon is not running, so the dumper fails and no dump is produced. I'm not sure whether NFS locking is always needed, but in our NFS it is. Adding "-o nolocks" to the "kdump-save_dump" script should fix this problem (at least the error message says so). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
