Hello all,

i just upgraded my openSUSE 10.2 installation to KDE 3.5.7 "release 69.1" from
the build service repositories and now am confronted with this issue:

On KDE startup kpowersave crashes with this backtrace:

Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1".

Starting kpowersave via konsole gives this output:

werner@habel:~> kpowersave
kpowersave: Acquired org.freedesktop.Policy.Power interface
kpowersave: Could not get XDG_SESSION_COOKIE from environment
ERROR: Communication problem with kpowersave, it probably crashed.
KCrash: Application 'kpowersave' crashing...

--------------------

An upgrade of HAL, PolicyKit, ConsoleKit etc. from factory as suggested here
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=298943#c29

is not an option, because it would break too many dependencies on this
productive installation.

Is there any alternative to such an upgtade, maybe a manual workaround to start
kpowersave?
If so, please explain in step by step detail.

Many thanks in advance,
Werner

p. s.: I am not having any problems to mount my USB-Drives as it was described
here:
