https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=301682 Summary: Yast2 Software Installer Deletes Packages Instead of Upgrading Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 1 Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: john@layt.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer The latest update to Yast2 Software Installer in factory from Beta 1 (possibly yast2-packager 2.15.61-2, but not sure) is deleting packages instead of upgrading them. If you mark several packages for upgrade, then the installer will first delete all the packages from the system before attempting to download and install the replacement packages. Any errors in the download or install which cause the process to abort will lead to an incomplete and probably non-functional system. If you try to update libzypper, then the installer itself crashes as libzypper disappears and it can't complete the update. If you update libbz2, then the installer can't complete any installs as it can't unzip the rpms. If you select "Update all packages", then 100's of packages are deleted, any problems in the download/install stage and your system is dead. Reproduced several times over, and confirmed by others on the opensuse mailing list: Install 10.3 Beta 1 Configure factory repo Upgrade Yast2 (but not libzypper) Attempt other upgrades with rpm or network problems Cheers!
