https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=301662 Summary: All audio/sound is chopped/stutters except for RealPlayer and Skype Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: sean.van.der.smythe@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other All the audio coming from my system stutters/is chopped (it all sounds like blip-blip-blip-blip but with different sounds of blip, depending on where it is in the sound being played) except for those sounds coming from Skype and RealPlayer. If I stop music from playing in RealPlayer (as opposed to letting the track finish then I get an ongoing (15+ minutes) stutter on the last note that it played. This ongoing stutter applies to all the stutter sources - whether Amarok or a system sound, the stutter goes on for about 15 minutes or so after it should have stopped. Clues: It is probably relevant: that I have had openSUSE 10.2 installed before without this issue; that reinstalling openSUSE has not fixed the problem the problem occurs for both alsa-1.0.14a and 1.0.13-22 that the start-up sound is not played when openSUSE start but that once the start-up sound DID play (perfectly), and for that entire session I had normal audio from all sources with no stutter; when I restarted, it went back to this problematic state; that once an "ongoing stutter" begins (as described above), it can be terminated by playing a sound from Skype (e.g. initiating a call) or from RealPlayer (e.g. playing a track); and in Konqueror > Settings > Sound & Multimedia > Sound, skip prevention is already activated (i.e. it has real-time priority) and I moved the buffer to maximum with no effect. Hardware is set to autodetect, with all other checkboxes unchecked/unticked. If I make a change, and click OK or apply, it goes through "restarting sound system" with a progress bar that goes to 100% and then restarts and progresses more slowly than the time before... ad infinitum. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
