--- Comment #10 from Petr Tesarik 2007-08-13 10:06:50 MST ---
Hell, yes, the process still exists, but it is a zombie (see my initial
comment). Believe me, I know what I'm talking about:
(gdb) start
Breakpoint 1 at 0x400507: file hello.c, line 5.
Starting program: /tmp/hello
main (argc=1, argv=0x7fff4447d0b8) at hello.c:5
5 puts("Hello world!\n");
(gdb) shell head /proc/13880/status
Name: hello
State: T (tracing stop)
SleepAVG: 89%
Tgid: 13880
Pid: 13880
PPid: 13879
TracerPid: 13879
Uid: 10023 10023 10023 10023
Gid: 100 100 100 100
FDSize: 64
<<<<<<< here I did kill -9 13880 on the other terminal
(gdb) shell head /proc/13880/status
Name: hello
State: Z (zombie)
SleepAVG: 88%
Tgid: 13880
Pid: 13880
PPid: 13879
TracerPid: 13879
Uid: 10023 10023 10023 10023
Gid: 100 100 100 100
FDSize: 0
(gdb) s
[tcsetpgrp failed in terminal_inferior: Operation not permitted]
main (argc=Cannot access memory at address 0x7fff4447cfcc
) at hello.c:5
5 puts("Hello world!\n");
@Z▒+
(gdb) q
The program is running. Exit anyway? (y or n) y
