ok - have installed NetworkManager-gnome. But am not sure how to use it. I
stopped knetworkmanager and then tried to load nm-applet. Successfully I
believe - only it does not show up in the KDE panel. In fact, I can see the
panel makes space for a new icon, but this space doesn't get filled. If I start
nm-applet once more, more space is filled in the KDE panel but again this space
does not get filled. Right or left click in this empty space doesn't do
anything either. Is that to be expected?
I never had 10.2 installed on this particular hardware (a Thinkpad R32) but
have 10.2 running on my work laptop (Thinkpad T41p) - using the same network
with knetworkmanager. No problems whatsoever.
