--- Comment #23 from Thomas Fehr 2007-08-09 03:45:42 MST ---
YaST2 logs are attached in comment #16.
The disk named /dev/sda is not present in partition listing since an open
of /dev/sda failed. No idea why it is not possible to read from /dev/sda
but I assume this is also causing problem with bootloader since it will
try writing MBR on sda.
Tejun, any ideas what could prevent user level access to /dev/sda?
Apparently kernel wise /dev/sda seems to be fine (the partitions of sda show
up in /proc/partitions and /sys/block/sda seems to be fine). Hwinfo also
detects /dev/sda as unaccessible. Flag "notready" is set to true in line 431
of y2log file, this normally happens for drives with changeable media when
no media is present. The hwinfo data lists /dev/sda with
"Drive status: no medium". Nevertheless partitions for the same drive are
detected.
