--- Comment #3 from Wolfgang Rosenauer
I removed " [NOTFOUND=return] " in nss-mds configuration and firefox/qnext work again. But, I have no need to update this on my 32 bits systems.
Hence, I do not agree with WR in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=249686#c43 as the behaviour between 32and 64 bits systems is different : the build environment is different.
We should answer to that question :
1 - what should be the right nss-mds configuration ? maybe, DNS server should be used in communications
The right configuration with 10.3 onwards is what you got from the update but it doesn't work on 10.2 because there is no nss-mdns-32bit package available there.
2 - Why is the same nss-mds configuration working on 32 bits systems ?
Because nss-mdns is available there. The problem you encounter is that the configuration in /etc/nsswitch.conf implies that nss-mdns is available in your environment. This is _only_ true for 64bit applications. 32bit applications on your system don't have that library available and therefore are stopping with this configuration because [NOTFOUND=return] doesn't silently fail but returns "incorrectly". But I still miss a comment from someone in the Gnome team what they plan to fix that issue in the buildservice. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
