https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=297120 Summary: Plextor PX-750A DVD-Writer never spins down Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Ulrich.Windl@rz.uni-regensburg.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- My DVD Writer Plextor PX-750A with Firmware 1.03 spins up when Linux boots, and it never spins down again, making a lot of noise, wasting energy, and reducing the life time of the DVD-Writer. The effect is not present in Windows/XP, and I think the effect was not present when I had the older firmware 1.02. My suspect is that something polls the drive periodically, preventing a spin-down. A valid work-around is to press the eject button and leave the tray open when no media access is needed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
