Response from Mark Nudelman (author of less):
Hi Ales,
There must be some misunderstanding here, since I thought I answered
this in my first reply. The paragraph I quoted from the man page states
that "display problems may result" when -r is used. The problem you are
seeing is exactly what is described -- long lines being split in the
wrong place, which causes the last 10 lines to scroll too much, forcing
the first 10 lines off screen.
The FAQ entry I quoted also has information on this, and explains why it
is not really possible to fix this. The -r flag in inherently
unreliable. It is better to use -R or neither if you are viewing files
with long lines.

That's why I'm closing the bug as INVALID.
