https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=289249 Summary: mod_auth_mysql should exclude basic_auth Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: SLES 10 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation AssignedTo: rwalter@novell.com ReportedBy: leo@kangaroot.net QAContact: ke@novell.com Found By: Corporate Interoperability Test package: apache2-mod_auth_mysql-3.0.0-14.2 on SLE_10 If you are using the mod_auth_mysql module for authentication you have to include it in the APACHE_MODULES variable in /etc/sysconfig/apache2. But auth_basic is also included in this string by default which causes problems as soon as you start using the mysql based authentication. Every attempt will fail with a Server Error and the following message in the error.log [error] Internal error: pcfg_openfile() called with NULL filename After searching and swearing I found that If you have both "auth_basic" and "mod_auth_mysql" loaded it will still look for a file with usernames and passwords causing your authentication to fail. Simpy removing the auth_basic module from the sysconfig file and restarting apache fixed the problem. The documentation or README should at least include a warning about this -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
