Summary: W32Time authentication support in NTP breaks runtime
configuration
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Alpha 5
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Network
AssignedTo: mskibbe@novell.com
ReportedBy: anschneider@novell.com
QAContact: qa@suse.de
Found By: ---
The W32Time authentication patch breaks runtime configuration of ntpd with
ntpdc. The client always sends as the packet keyid 0 instead of the entered
keyid. I've created packages without the patches and they work just fine.
ntpdc> addserver ntp1.suse.de 15
26 Jun 19:26:58 ntpd[27065]: process_private: failed auth 1 info_auth_keyid 1
pkt keyid 0
The keyid should be 15. I've created packages without the patches and they work
just fine.
How to reproduce:
==================
Edit /etc/ntp.conf with the following variables:
#
# Authentication stuff
#
keys /etc/ntp.keys
trustedkey 1 15
requestkey 15
Create a /etc/ntp.keys with the following content:
1 M nosecret
15 M secret
Copy the /etc/ntp.keys to the chroot enviroment and start ntp.
ntpdc
ntpdc> addserver ntp1.suse.de 15
